NutriSnap AI ("we," "our," or "the app") is a nutrition and meal-tracking app built for Pakistani and South Asian users. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control or delete it.
Quick summary: We collect the health, meal, and account data you give us or connect to us, we use it to power the app's features, we don't sell your data, and you can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Name and email address
- Age and gender
- Height and weight
- Fitness goal (e.g. lose, maintain, gain), activity level, and daily calorie target
- Subscription plan status (free or paid)
Health Data (Google Health)
If you choose to connect Google Health, we access:
- Your daily step count
- Your weight
We store a secure access token to keep this connection active. You can disconnect Google Health at any time in the app, which permanently deletes this token and stops any further access.
Meal & Nutrition Data
- Photos of meals you scan (sent to Google's Gemini AI for analysis)
- Calories, protein, carbs, and fat for each meal you log
- Meal type (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack) and time logged
AI Nutritionist Chat
Messages you send to the in-app AI nutritionist chat are sent to Google's Gemini AI, along with relevant profile stats (like your calorie goal and recent meals), so it can give you personalized responses.
Social Features
- Friend connections (added by email)
- Your points, streaks, and leaderboard rank, which are visible to your added friends
Payment Information
Subscription payments are processed by Creem, our payment partner. We do not store your card number or payment details ourselves — only your subscription status (e.g. active, plan type).
Communications
We use your email address to send welcome messages, streak reminders, and weekly progress reports. You can request to stop receiving these at any time.
Feedback
If you submit feedback, we store your rating, category, and message.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide core features: meal tracking, calorie/macro calculations, and BMI
- To analyze meal photos and generate nutrition estimates using AI
- To power the AI nutritionist chat with context about your goals and progress
- To sync your steps and weight if you connect Google Health
- To run gamification features (points, streaks, badges, challenges)
- To enable friend connections and leaderboards, if you choose to use them
- To process subscription payments via Creem
- To send account-related and progress emails
- To improve the app based on feedback you submit
3. Who We Share Data With
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the services that power the app's features:
- Google Gemini AI — receives meal photos and chat messages to generate nutrition analysis and responses
- Google Health — provides step and weight data if you connect it
- Firebase — handles your account login and authentication
- Creem — processes subscription payments on our behalf
- SendGrid — delivers account and reminder emails
Each of these providers has its own privacy practices governing how they handle the data we send them.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Railway, with access restricted to authenticated requests only. We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no system can guarantee complete security.
5. Your Rights & Choices
- Delete your account: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app. This removes your profile, meals, health connection, friendships, and login credentials.
- Disconnect Google Health: You can disconnect this at any time without deleting your whole account.
- Manage friends: You can remove friends at any time, which stops them from seeing your points and streaks.
- Email preferences: You can request to stop receiving reminder or report emails.
6. Children's Privacy
NutriSnap AI is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when changes are made.
